Callaway Golf Becomes Title Sponsor of the Junior World Golf Championships

CARLSBAD, Calif., Mar 22, 2002 (BW SportsWire) -- Callaway Golf (NYSE: ELY), the world's leading manufacturer of premium golf equipment, has become the title sponsor of the Junior World Golf Championships. The 2002 Callaway Golf Junior World Golf Championships will be played July 16-19 at seven courses across San Diego County, marking the event's 35th anniversary.

The Callaway Golf Junior World Golf Championships are a series of 10 individual stroke play tournaments for boys and girls in five separate age groups, from 6- to 8-year olds up to 15- to 17-year olds. The total field size for the event exceeds 1,000 golfers from more than 40 countries. Many past champions at the event have gone on to successful professional golf careers, including Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els, Nick Price, David Toms, Amy Alcott and Brandie Burton.
