CARLSBAD, CA., June 5, 2000 – For the second consecutive year, the Kemper Insurance Open has been won by a relatively unknown golfer using a very well-known product – an Odyssey® Putter. This year’s winner used an Odyssey White Hot™ 5 Putter to claim his first PGA Tour victory. Odyssey Golf, a division of Callaway Golf (NYSE: ELY), was also victorious at the event last year when Rich Beem wielded an Odyssey TriForce™ 2 Putter in his first PGA Tour win.

This year’s Kemper winner was the only player in the field to post four rounds in the 60s. His triumphant performance included several clutch putts over the final nine holes, including a 22-foot birdie putt at No. 10, a five-foot birdie putt on No. 11 and a 15-foot par-saving putt at No. 15 to preserve his lead. “That putt at 15 was awesome,” the winner said. “I’ll remember that putt for a long time.”

An Odyssey White Hot 5 Putter also was used to win last weekend’s Buy.com Tour Steamtown Classic. The winner recorded his first victory after a combined 209 PGA and Buy.com tour events with a final-round 68. His one-stroke victory was saved by a key eight-foot par putt on the 16th hole. Four of the top five finishers at the Steamtown Classic used Odyssey Putters, with three of those being Odyssey White Hot Putters.

Odyssey White Hot Putters have now recorded nine wins since their introduction in January. Six of those wins have come over the last month, including victories by Carlos Franco and Annika Sorenstam with Odyssey White Hot 2 Putters and a pair of wins by Colin Montgomerie using an Odyssey White Hot 4 Putter.

This past weekend at the English Open, Montgomerie posted another top-10 finish with his Odyssey White Hot 4 Putter. In fact, six of the top 11 finishers at the event used Odyssey Putters, including Michael Campbell, who tied for second using an Odyssey Dual Force® Putter.

Through June 4, Odyssey Putters are the most-played putters on the world’s five major professional tours combined in 2000. According to the Darrell Survey Company and Sports Marketing Surveys, Ltd., 31.3 percent of all putters used on the PGA, Senior PGA, LPGA, BUY.COM and PGA European tours combined this year have been Odyssey Putters, compared with 22.5 percent for the nearest competitor.

Carlsbad-based Odyssey Golf, a division of Callaway Golf Company, produces the new White Hot™ Putters, along with the Dual Force® and TriForce™ Putters.
