CARLSBAD, CA., May 15, 2000 – Continuing his run as one of the world’s hottest golfers, Callaway Golf (NYSE: ELY) Staff Professional Jesper Parnevik won a three-hole playoff over Davis Love III and Phil Mickelson at the GTE Byron Nelson Classic on Sunday. The victory was Parnevik’s second of the year and put him over the $2 million mark in earnings for the season.

And across the Atlantic, Callaway Golf Staff Professional Bruce Fleisher kept up his winning ways with a decisive victory at the AIB Irish Seniors Open. Fleisher, who won last week’s Home Depot Invitational on the Senior PGA Tour, recorded his first PGA European Senior Tour victory with a total of 7-under-par 209, three strokes better than George Burns and Bob Shearer. Fleisher now has four wins this year and 11 overall in less than two full years as a senior. On the Senior PGA Tour, he has won 10 of the 44 events in which he has competed.

Parnevik, who won the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in January, has now moved into the top 10 of the World Ranking. The 35-year-old Swede was one of the top Europeans at last year’s Ryder Cup Matches, and has continued his impressive play ever since. He is tied with Tiger Woods for the PGA Tour lead in top 10 finishes with eight this season.

“I’ve never had a year like this one,” said Parnevik, who now has four career PGA Tour titles. “The way I’m hitting my woods and irons is beyond belief. This whole year has been like a big bonus.”

Parnevik used 12 Callaway Golf® clubs in his latest victory, including a Callaway Golf titanium driver, Steelhead Plus™ 3-wood, Big Bertha® Steelhead™ 5-wood, Big Bertha X-12® Irons and a Steelhead X-14™ Wedge. This was the second consecutive win for a Callaway Golf Staff Professional on the PGA Tour, following Carlos Franco’s win last week at the Compaq Classic.

Meanwhile, Fleisher relied exclusively on Callaway Golf equipment in his victory. He used 14 Callaway Golf clubs, including his Hawk Eye® Pro Series Titanium Driver, Steelhead Plus 3-wood and 5-wood, Hawk Eye Tungsten Injected™ Titanium Irons and Wedges and an Odyssey Dual Force® 664 Putter. Fleisher also used a Callaway Golf “Rule 35™” Softfeel™ ball.
