CARLSBAD, CA., March 19, 2001 – Callaway Golf Company’s (NYSE: ELY) new titanium drivers – the ERC™ II Forged Titanium Driver and the Hawk Eye® VFT™ – and both the “Rule 35®” Firmfeel™ (red logo) and Softfeel™ (blue logo) were used by champions worldwide this past weekend.

In the United States, Annika Sorenstam led the way, making history at the Standard Register Ping by becoming the first woman ever to shoot a round of 59 on the LPGA Tour. Sorenstam, 30, who shot the record-breaking score during Friday’s second round, went on to win by two strokes over Se Ri Pak for her second victory in as many weeks. Using 11 Callaway Golf® clubs and the “Rule 35” Softfeel ball, Sorenstam broke four LPGA Tour records and tied two others. In her bag: the “Rule 35” Softfeel ball, the VFT Pro Series Titanium Driver, Steelhead Plus™ 4- and 7-wood, Steelhead® X-14® Irons and an Odyssey® Dual Force® Rossie® 2 Putter. In Japan, Callaway Golf Staff Player Eiji Mizoguchi gave the new ERC II Driver its second pro victory in two weeks in his win at the Dydo Drinco Shizuoka Open. Mizoguchi used the winning combination of the ERC II Driver and the “Rule 35” Firmfeel ball to win in a playoff. In all, he carried 14 Callaway Golf clubs, including the Steelhead Plus 3- and 5-wood, X-14 Irons and an Odyssey White Hot® 7 Putter. Callaway Golf Staff Professional Dean Wilson tied for third in the tournament, carrying both the ERC II and Hawk Eye VFT Titanium Drivers, along with the Steelhead Plus 4-wood, X-14 Pro Series Irons, and the Odyssey White Hot 5 Putter.
