CARLSBAD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 7, 2005--With her victory yesterday in the Mizuno Classic at Otsu Shiga, Japan, Callaway Golf (NYSE:ELY) Staff Professional Annika Sorenstam set yet another career standard by becoming the first professional golfer ever to win the same tournament in five consecutive years.

Sorenstam recorded a bogey-free round of 8-under-par 64 on Sunday at the Seta Golf Course to finish at 21-under-par 195, three shots ahead of Jennifer Rosales. The come-from-behind win was her ninth of 2005 and the 65th of her career, third on the all-time winners list. She also tied her own LPGA record, set just last month and shared with fellow Hall of Famer Mickey Wright, of winning the same tournament five times.

Sorenstam, 35, again used a bag full of Callaway Golf(R) equipment, including the Big Bertha(R) Fusion(R) FT-3(TM) Driver, X-18(R) Irons, a Big Bertha Strong 4-wood and 7-wood, Callaway Golf Forged+ Wedges, the HX(R) Tour Golf Ball and Odyssey(R) White Hot(R) 2-Ball Blade Putter. She also wore Callaway Golf Footwear with the patented Big Bertha Spike.

"I am very, very happy. I had the chance to do something today that nobody else has done," said Sorenstam, who birdied four of her last five holes. "I was able to make birdies when I needed to and that is really one of the reasons why I love this game so much. To come here and do something like this, it is just very gratifying."

The $150,000 winner's check gives Sorenstam $2,373,246 on the year and increases her lead over Paula Creamer lead to more than $800,000 on the ADT Official Money List.

Over the past five years. Sorenstam has compiled an astounding total of 95 under par at the Mizuno Classic, breaking 70 in 14 of her 15 rounds. In the past three years, she has shot higher than 66 just once at the Mizuno Classic.

After posting an 8-under-par 64 in the opening round round, Sorenstam shot a 5-under-par 67 in the second to go to 13-under-par for the tournament, trailing leader Young Kim for the second straight day by one shot.

Sorenstam has also been almost perfect when it comes to defending tournaments this year, winning 5-of-7 title defenses with the opportunity to defend the season-ending ADT Championship in two weeks.
